The Global Travel Group was formed in 1992 to offer people from various backgrounds and experience the opportunity to start their own travel agencies. The idea behind The Global Travel Group was simple – to break through expensive and time consuming barriers such as bonding and allow non-travel professionals access into the travel industry. Since then The Global Travel Group has grown in strength and our members now enjoy fantastic commercial terms with leading suppliers and award winning in-house technology. This is in addition to the all important ATOL bonding which allows our members to dynamically package their own holidays tailored exactly to their customers own needs.
The Global Travel Group has a tried and tested business model that can suit your own requirements and has an impeccable reputation within the market. The Group has grown rapidly, particularly over the last five years, launching a number of exclusive products including an in-house accommodation provider and flight consolidator allowing members to package holidays.
Technology has played a major part in the Group’s success resulting in numerous awards including 2007 British Travel Award for Best Trade Sales Website; Best Use of Technology; National Business Awards Technology Innovation and Business of the Year Finalist, 2004 & 2005; Achievement Wales Business Award Winners and 2005 Travel Industry Golden Globe Award Winners for Innovation.
More recently in early 2008, The Global Travel Group was acquired by a major global player in the Travel Market – Stella Travel Services whose UK portfolio includes Travel 2 Ltd and Travel Bag Ltd to name but a few. General operations have not changed however the buying power has increased and our commercial terms have never been better.
There are now over 600 members that work under The Global Travel Group umbrella from large call centres to people working part time with a small home office. The Global Travel Group Membership Package
Your Own Independent Business. When you join The Global Travel Group you become a member of one of the largest groups of independent travel agents in the UK. The Global Travel Group is different to other franchises as you do not take our name and you are not limited to a geographical area – you are quite simply your own business branded and grown in your own way. The Global Travel Group provides all the backup, support, licences, training and experience to help you grow that business.
Group ATOL Licence
This is probably the most important tool in today’s developing travel market. The Group ATOL protects the client’s holiday in conjunction with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). An ATOL licence allows you to package your own holidays as a fully bonded and protected product setting your own price and margins. This means that your clients can book with you traditional package holidays or ones tailored exactly to their own requirements.
This is the ability to package your own holidays, setting your own prices and margins using the Group ATOL licence. It gives you a unique, tailored, highly profitable, flexible and fully protected product that is not available anywhere else – this has proved to be the cornerstone to many of our member’s businesses.
Customer Protection Guarantee
The Group ATOL is just one part of the bonding and protection travel agents require and customers need. The Global Travel Group also fulfils another important requirement in the form of our “Customer Protection Guarantee Scheme”. This protects your client’s funds in a trust account and is the equivalent of an ABTA bond. This means in the unlikely event of an agent or The Global Travel Group failing, the client’s money is safe and will be paid to the operator as normal.
Positive Cash Flow
There are not many business opportunities where you can earn money before delivering a product. Likewise it is unlikely that you can sell things you have not paid for. As a member of The Global Travel Group you can do both due to the fact that there is massive selection of holidays readily available to sell but you have not had to incur any outlay beforehand. Our exclusive state of the art holiday search tool, intranet and web solutions will give your blossoming business a key competitive edge.
Unique Commercial Arrangements
The Global Travel Group work with a large number of trade suppliers giving you quite literally access to every type of holiday to almost every destination. We have commercial agreements with over 160 trade suppliers including the biggest in mass market package holidays through to niche operators. As well as Tour Operators we also work directly with over 300 airlines and have access to over 100,000 accommodation units in 76 countries around the world. The final range of products is Ancillaries such as insurance, car hire, car parking and airport lounges.
Personal Travel and Educationals
If you work in the travel industry everyone thinks you can get cheap and free holidays. Well, here’s a little secret – you do! You will have access to discounted travel through travel clubs and other means, together with familiarisation trips around the world.
Industry Leading Training
As part of your membership package you will receive two weeks training at our training academy. This training course is designed to provide you with everything you need to know to start your successful travel business. The training team have years of knowledge and experience and will fully prepare you for the launch of your business. There is continuous support and training available as long as you are a member.
Support and Business Development Managers
At The Global Travel Group we know our support is important to you particularly in the early stages of your new business. The Head Office employs over 200 staff dedicated to your success. Agency Support is on hand to answer any queries that you may have and there are also Marketing and Commercial departments to assist and support all our members. A recent addition to the support network is our Regional Business Managers located around the country who will visit you in your place of business regularly to give you practical help and support. All our development staff are trained travel professionals with years of knowledge and are your resource to use when required.
